Abstract
The current status of knowledge of the Precambrian sedimentary sequence of Caborca, Sonora is presented, together with a review of the geological and paleontological work that has been carried out during the last year. The sections described by Eells (1972), Longora and coworkers (1979) and Stewart and coworkers (in press) are compared with recent work in some new localities of the área. A new stromatolite-Bearing section is mentioned with an assemblage diferente from those previously described. The utility of the stromatolites in the Precambrian stratigraphy is shown, and the necessity of detailed studies about these fossils is pointed out.
