EDITORIAL

The Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas (RMCG) is proud to announce that, from the beginning of 2024, several changes and improvements were undertaken:

In May 2024, one of our Scientific Editors, Dr. Luigi Solari, joined the Editorial Board, replacing Dr. Ángel Francisco Nieto Samaniego. Dr. Nieto Samaniego, who has served the Editorial Board for the last eight years with great dedication and contribution, is continuing to act as Associate Editor. We extend our warmest acknowledgments to him for his invaluable service.

After several months of struggling with system failures, we have replaced the Open Journal System, software that manages submissions, editorial handling, and manuscript revisions, with a new version. We will fine-tune it during the forthcoming weeks to improve the user experience, simplify editorial processes, and thus enhance our journal's quality and response time.

We want to welcome two new scientists that will act as Associate Editors for the RMCG:

  • Ma. del Pilar Navas-Parejo García

Her expertise covers Paleozoic stratigraphy and paleogeography, mainly using biostratigraphy and lithostratigraphy of conodonts and fusulinids. She uses tools such as geochemistry and geochronology to enhance the paleoenvironmental and paleoecological Paleozoic communities. She’s also interested in aspects related to ethics and the preservation of paleontologic patrimony.

  • Carles Canet

His expertise focuses on the studies of hydrothermal systems, mostly in their uppermost portion, including mineral and geothermal systems. He has also studied deep-sea mineral deposits in hydrothermal submarine systems. He’s been an active member of the community developing and maintaining the Mexican Geo-heritage in UNESCO.

We renew the invitation to the Geosciences community to submit manuscripts for possible publication in the Revista Méxicana de Ciencias Geológicas (RMCG). We accept contributions dealing with geological processes of general or global interest, mainly focused on Latin American topics. Our journal's Impact Factor in the Science Citation Index is 0.6 (2024). The RMCG has a Scopus 2023 CiteScore of 1.0.
