Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas (RMCG) is an open-acces, online journal, co-edited by Instituto de Geología, Centro de Geociencias and Facultad de Ingeniería of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), as well as by Sociedad Geológica Mexicana, Instituto Nacional de Geoquímica (INAGEQ), and Sociedad Mexicana de Paleontología.
It publishes original research papers dealing with any discipline of the Earth Sciences, with emphasis on works of Iberoamerica.
Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas (RMCG) publishes original research papers on geological processes of broad interest, and particularly those dealing with regions of Latin America. The RMCG also publishes review papers on topics
of current interest, and on the geology and tectonics of geological provinces of
Latin America. Besides, it offers the opportunity for host editors to publish special thematic issues.
Papers suitable for the RMCG are those that (1) report high-quality data,
(2) thoroughly discuss the implications of the results in the light of recent and relevant scientific literature, and
(3) are of broad interest or have an impact on other disciplines.
Papers that address local or highly specialized topics are more appropriate for other regional or disciplinary journals.
The RMCG will continue to publish papers written in English or Spanish, but the use of the former is recommended in order to reach a broader readership.
Manuscripts submitted to the RMCG are subjected to a preliminary editorial review by the Editors in Chief, and then to external peer-review. In order to obtain a rapid editorial response, authors are urged to follow the Guidelines for Authors.
